Comment:  Julie over Half Dome. This picture is the first of four which reveal the secret of Half Dome - it is an optical illusion and only appears as a dome when viewed from the west or north, preferably from below. Also visible in the distance is the southern half of Yosemite National Park. At this point Julie is approaching 12,500 ft high, over 3000 ft above Half Dome's 8,836 ft summit. Up drafts from the Pacific winds encountering the Sierra Nevada Mountains are pushing her up and making for a roller coaster ride. The altitude is above Julie's service ceiling. Since she is neither pressurized nor has supplemental oxygen we may only spend 30 minutes at or above that level.
