The road to Black Rock City. Ed and Scott climbed into the pickup truck at 7pm, Saturday 29 August. They arrived at the Winnemucca Walmart just before 6am Monday morning. After stocking up, getting a shower and a good breakfast they left for the last leg of the trip. In his flights out of Black Rock City Airport, Scott had noticed NV 49, Jungo Road, which ran from Winnemucca to Gerlach. By the map it would be half the distance (126 vice 210 miles) than by the normal route of I-80/NV 447. Also it would by-pass the long backup which frequently occured on NV 447. It showed on the maps as dirt, but he had seen a number of vehicles "making good time" along in during previous Burning Man Festivals. We decided to take the road, and as this picture shows, it was tolerable and we saw several other cars (and wild life) along the road.
