Each "city function" in Black Rock City is provided by a specialized camp with a specific interest in the function. The Airport Camp provides the airport. Leaders of the camp include experienced pilots and air traffic controllers. The camp is set up a mile away from the main city, with the runway outside the pentagonal trash fench that surrounds the city. This picture shows the terminal area and pilot's lounge. The 'tower' is on the left, the main tent in the center, and further facilities tents to the right. In front of the main tent are racks of community "yellow" bikes (which are painted green?!?) which are available for anybody to use and leave at other camps.
