A 23 aircraft formation approachs the Pentagon from the south flying over the Potomac River. In this picture the smoke they had been trailing has been discontinued.

The formation passes behind the Air Force Memorial. The +1 coordinating T-6 can be seen high and to the left of the memorial spire. That aircraft had been generating smoke but discontinued just before its passage behind the memorial. That smoke trail can be seen high and to the right of the memorial.

I had wanted to get close up picture of the whole formation framed by the memorial, but my camera focused on the memorial rather than the aircraft. This is a picture I took a few moments later as the aircraft passed behind the last spire of the memorial.
